Grant in Victoria who is on the list said the old station structure has been moved to Ogden point to the cruise ship terminal. As for the replacement station I'm taking a guess it might be where the old Esquimalt station use to be? I'm also guessing this station might not have a ticket agent & instead be ticket machines instead like on the corridor.

As for Tom's speculation of the service not returning I hate to disagree with Tom as all the money is in place & the agreement has been signed off on. The ICF who will be operating the service is going to make this a money making line & not money losing. I was told that there will be a lot of changes that will attract ridership.

The current freight service only operates between Duncan & Parksville with service only a couple of times a week. I'm sure the ICF will be probably be looking for new freight customers as well

Is this a total ICF undertaking as some posting have indicated in that ICF will be the owners, operators who will maintain the right of way and provide the crews and equipment also? Is VIA involved in any way somewhat as it was in pre 2011 where ICF (the railroad owners) will maintain the right of way and VIA will operate the trains and pay a trackage fee to ICF?

Don,

The ICF is the owner of the right of way and the trackage.

Maintenance and operation of the line is done on behalf of the ICF by SRVI - Southern Railway of Vancouver Island.

Those two entities as well as VIA are all involved with the operation of the Dayliner on the island.

Cheers,
Jon
