when asked why so late, the VIA telephone rep said.... too many freights causing delays....

There's no mention of that on the arrival status page of VIA's
web site. That page says "in case of important delay, a message
will be added to this train status information." So I guess being
five hours late is now considered an unimportant delay for the
Canadian.

It's a lack of communication to inform travelers & greeters of #2's arrival
into Toronto.

#1 due into Vancouver this morning is running 2 hours late & should be
arriving into Vancouver as we speak?

You'd think with the unknown millions Via pays out to CN for usage of their rail lines coupled with a now extended 4 night schedule that this train would ! be on schedule...........permanently.

I took the 23:13 Oshawa-bound GO train from Toronto Union Station
Saturday evening (Oct 11). When I arrived at the station, a few
minutes before my train's departure, VIA #1 was still there. It
is scheduled to leave at 22:00. I didn't pass through the Great
Hall, so I didn't see the VIA departure board and don't know if
it had a revised departure time.

Does anyone know if #2 really arrived at 14:30, or was it delayed
even longer?

VIA # 2 went through Oriole Bala Sub MP 11.1 at 2:30 PM on Saturday, approx.
5 œ hrs late. From here ETA at Union would be about 2:55 PM or so.

20 cars plus 2 Rocky Mountaineer coaches after the first unit.
