Have plans for a new Brockville station been abandoned?
That question has been asked in the local newspaper a few times
recently. The mayor of Brockville has contacted VIA more than
once without receiving a definitive answer. Nobody has said
that the plan to build a new station has been cancelled,
however nothing has been done other than the track work that
Tom mentioned.
Now it's official. The new station has been cancelled. Instead,
the existing one will be renovated.

Today VIA issued this press release: <http://cnw.ca/5UXdO>
announcing a ceremony for the "offical launch" of the station
renovations. Is the work just starting now, or are the local
MP and MPP-turned-senator just in need of some media coverage?

No work was evident when I went by the station a few days ago. However the mural that was attached the the station exterior wall facing the tracks has been removed, so I guess they are getting ready to start the job.
