It [#72] showed arrival in Woodstock at 14:17, almost 3 hours
late then taken off the board. VIA web site says replaced by
buses. VIA 73 on time but 70 was almost 90 minutes late and
71 about 20 into Wodstock. VIA's troubles continue today after
mystery trains running yesterday.
Tom, guess we will have to rely on your to fill us in.
I can't give a definitive answer, but for what it's worth...
Only #70 and #72 seem to have had major problems in southwestern
Ontario today. Everything else is pretty close to being on time
(so far, as of 18:30). #71 was 8 min late in Woodstock,
according to the VIA web site. That might be a problem by
Japanese or Swiss standards, but it qualifies as on time for VIA.
Since the other trains have been running OK, that suggests to
me that the problem was with the equipment for #70 and #72,
not with the tracks or other traffic. It's an odd coincidence
that the two trains that spend the night in Windsor would both
have mechanical problems on the same day (if that's what
happened), but coincidences do sometimes happen by random chance.
