Hi. When eastbound Via Rail train number 2 'The Canadian' arrives at Kamloops North today, two Rocky Mountaineer 'Gold Leaf' domes will be put in the consist, and will deadhead to Toronto. Consist will be as follows:

6416 UNIT (TORONTO)
9505 RMR GOLD LEAF DOME D/H KAMN-TRTO
9509 RMR GOLD LEAF DOME D/H KAMN-TRTO
6441 UNIT (TORONTO)
6419 UNIT (TORONTO)
8143 COACH D/H ( OFF AT JASPER )
8613 BAGGAGE (TORONTO)
8135 COACH (TORONTO)
8106 COACH (TORONTO)
8511 SKYLINE (TORONTO)
8411 DINER 'IMPERIAL' (TORONTO)
8509 SKYLINE (TORONTO)
8312 SLEEPER 'BUTLER MANOR' (TORONTO)
8335 SLEEPER 'MACKENZIE MANOR' (TORONTO)
8332 SLEEPER 'LAIRD MANOR' (TORONTO)
1721 PANORAMA ( OFF AT EDMONTON)
8308 SLEEPER 'BLISS MANOR' (TORONTO)
8310 SLEEPER 'BROCK MANOR' (TORONTO)
8305 SLEEPER 'BAYFIELD MANOR' (TORONTO)
8334 SLEEPER 'MACDONALD MANOR' (TORONTO)
8220 SLEEPER 'CHATEAU PAPINEAU' (TORONTO)
8500 SKYLINE (TORONTO)
8401 DINER 'ACADIAN' (TORONTO)
8331 SLEEPER 'JARVIS MANOR' (TORONTO)
8338 SLEEPER 'ROGERS MANOR' (TORONTO)
8324 SLEEPER 'DUNSMUIR MANOR' (TORONTO)
8715 SLEEPER-DOME-OBSERVATION-LOUNGE 'TREMBLANT PARK' (TORONTO)

Via Rail has deadheaded Rocky Mountaineer equipment on 'The Canadian' in the past to Toronto, I believe that RMR arranges for work to be done on their cars at the TMC ( Toronto Maintenance Centre). The RMR rolling stock has to be sandwiched between two Via units, something to do with the RMR car's H.E.P. not being compatible with Via Rail car's H.E.P.. It makes for a different looking consist. A film crew from Portuguese television boarded #2 in Vancouver Tuesday evening, en route to Jasper, accompanied by a Via Rail marketing person. He might have quite the time explaining why 'the competition' ( RMR ) has cars on a Via Rail train!. Perhaps Via will ask the TV producers to digitally remove the RMR cars from footage shot, so nobody watching television in Portugal will see them.

Cheers

Greg,

When you say today did you mean Wednesday (8 October)?

Hi. When I wrote 'today' in the subject title above I did indeed mean 'today', which when I wrote it was early Wednesday October 08. Via train 2 that departs Vancouver on Tuesday night arrives in Kamloops North Wednesday morning. From what I heard, #2 left Kamloops North around 0800 Wednesday October 08. RMR staff where to be on hand there to assist Via employees when the two Gold Leaf domes were spliced into the consist of the Canadian. Perhaps some rail fans might be able get a photo of #2 somewhere between Kamloops North and Toronto with this unusual consist.
Cheers
