This story didn't make Montreal's English media last Monday.

AMT got off to a bad start. Some of their own making involving AMT equipment. As well as one thanks to Mr.Harrison's ever efficient CPR. Who couldn't wait for rush hour to end. Vivre La CPR Libre.

A CP/AMT engineer told me that an eastbound freight in the middle of morning rush on the north track of the Vaudreuil line encountered a broken wheel near Beaconsfield. Over two miles in length it effectively delayed the whole parade back tracking to set th' disabled car out. Then his delayed AMT train reversed direction on the only operational track to pick up stranded passengers. Two westbound morning AMT trains never got out. What a &^*% mess.

I highly doubt there's any financial consequence for this kind of nonsense. The operating contracts don't have a clause to cover screw-ups a railway might create. Last week someone mentioned that CN's figured in any penalties for the Via's #2 tardiness as of late. There simply are none to the best of my knowledge. CN and CP have fixed price contract(s) for any passenger services.
