On Friday July 04th a special business car train arrived into Vancouver B.C. from Seattle Washington. The train was a joint operation by Montana Rail Link and the BNSF Railway, and carried around 150-200 passengers. The MRL / BNSF train arrived at Via Rail's Vancouver 'Pacific Central Station' about 1810, coming in on track 8 inside the 'Amtrak cage'. Like with an Amtrak arrival, Canada Customs-Immigration officers met the train, and Via Rail station staff assisted the train crew with luggage from the two baggage cars. Via Rail also provided carts and wheelchairs. After the MRL / BNSF passengers exited Customs, they boarded special limos and motor coaches waiting outside the front of the Via station. The passengers are staying in Vancouver overnight, then taking a cruise ship to Alaska, an
d then after that heading home on their own. The MRL / BNSF train deadheaded back to Seattle, the consist left track 8 from the 'Amtrak cage' at around 1945. I wrote
down the consist , I will type it below:

MONTANA RAIL LINK / BNSF RAILWAY BUSINESS CAR TRAIN
ARRIVED VANCOUVER B.C. JULY 04 2014

BNSF 7387- UNIT
MRL 4408-UNIT
BNSF 51 'SNOQUALMIE PASS'-BAGGAGE CAR
MRL 103-BAGGAGE CAR
MRL 'PEND OREILLE'-DOME CAR
MRL 'IDAHO'-LOUNGE CAR
MRL 'MONTANA'-LOUNGE CAR
MRL 'FLATHEAD'-DOME CAR
MRL 'SILVER CLOUD'-BUSINESS CAR
BNSF 11-BUSINESS CAR
BNSF 'FRED HARVEY'-DINING CAR
BNSF 31-FULL LENGTH DOME CAR
BNSF 30-FULL LENGTH DOME CAR

Quite an impressive consist. The MRL cars are pristine, and the BNSF cars very classy looking former Santa Fe stainless steel equipment. I am guessing that the MRL domes are ex-Great Northern or ex-Northern Pacific heritage..

Cheers
